Muscle injury: Football year over for Stuttgart's Ito
Hiroki Ito will no longer be available to Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart this calendar year. The Japanese international suffered a muscle injury in the 2:1 win at Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday and will therefore not be able to play again until the winter break, as the Swabians announced on Monday. In consultation with VfB, Ito has traveled to his home country to undergo the necessary rehabilitation measures
"Hiroki's absence has dampened the joy of our victory in Frankfurt because he is a very important player for us with his footballing qualities and mentality," said sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth. "Unfortunately, the injury means we'll have to do without him for a long time."
Despite Hiroki Ito's absence due to a muscle injury, VfB Stuttgart will continue to participate in Bundesliga matches. The Japanese midfielder, who is crucial for the team with his soccer skills and attitude, will be missing from the field until the winter break.
