Justice - Murder in the bathtub: verdict expected in trial
The verdict in the trial for the murder of a 56-year-old man in the Eifel village of Hersdorf is to be handed down this Tuesday (11.00 a.m.) at Trier Regional Court. Two men, aged 21 and 27, allegedly killed the man in his house in the Eifel district of Bitburg-Prüm in mid-January in a treacherous and greedy attack.
According to the indictment, the man allegedly met the two Serbs on the internet in search of sexual contact. The men had only feigned sexual interest in the Eifel man in order to gain his trust and then rob him.
The man had picked up the duo from their home in Remscheid in North Rhine-Westphalia and taken them to his house. It was there that the crime was committed: the man was killed in his bathtub by being hit on the back of the head with a lug wrench. Around ten days after the crime, the men were arrested in Remscheid and have been in custody ever since.
