Municipal employee in Braunschweig convicted of bribery and breach of trust

According to the Public Prosecutor's Office, the City Inspector was responsible for aligning the so-called gaming tax declaration with the slot machine revenue strips from gaming hall operators. His task was to adjust the revenue strips with the gaming tax declaration and enter the result into a database.

Through false declarations, the state allegedly lost more than 700,000 Euros. The accused is said to have received cash from the tax evaders - a total of over 70,000 Euros for these schemes.

The City Inspector, under investigation, is associated with Brunswick's Municipal government. The corruption case will be heard in court, potentially leading to probation or imprisonment for the suspect. The court spokeswoman addressed the public, stating that the Public Prosecutor's office is taking this case seriously due to the severity of corruptibility involved. Employees from the tax office are rumored to have been involved in infidelity to the city's trust, damaging the integrity of the public services.
