Munich stab attack: Suspect temporarily in psychiatric clinic

According to the Public Prosecutor's Office, there is a suspicion of hate crime. There are indications that the accused may have committed the act motivated by an Islamophobic mindset. A 18-year-old and a 25-year-old were injured. Both were admitted to the hospital. The younger one has been discharged, as reported. The older one will continue to be treated stationarily in the clinic, but his injuries are not life-threatening.

The suspect had surrendered himself at the crime scene. The Public Prosecutor's Office Munich I is investigating for attempted murder and grievous bodily harm in two cases. However, a preliminary assessment of the accused has shown that his culpability during the commission of the crime may have been suspended, it was stated.

The Munich Magistrates' Court has ordered the preliminary detention in a psychiatric institution on the application of the Public Prosecutor's Office Munich I. The exact course of the incident and the motive are still being investigated.

The suspect surrendered at the site of the suspected Messerangriff. The alleged attack took place near a local clinic in Munich. Despite the public outcry, only two men were involved as victims, with one still receiving treatment at the clinic. The Public Prosecution Office in Munich is closely monitoring the progress of the investigation.
