Media - Munich Film Festival: Comedy and party to kick off the festival
With the comedy "Two for One," the Munich Film Festival will be opened on Saturday (at 19.30 hours). Sandra Hüller and Roland Zehrfeld, as well as director Natja Brunckhorst, will present their film, which starts in cinemas on July 25. In addition to the opening ceremony at HP8 cultural center, many other guests from the film and television industry are expected. Already on Friday, the festival had invited to the "Young Night" party in the Kunstareal in cooperation with the Brandhorst Museum.
The festival shows around 150 films from all over the world until July 7. Traditionally, there are also many German productions in the program. The program is ambitious and covers a wide range from children's films to comedies and dramas, up to historical and political topics. Prizes will be awarded at the end. Both newcomers and established filmmakers, as well as actresses and actors, are honored. Highlights are the awards for actresses Jessica Lange and Kate Winslet, who honor the festival with the undotated CineMerit Award.
Lange will also present her new film "The Great Lillian Hall" on Sunday. The production of HBO from the USA tells the story of Broadway star Lillian Hall, who becomes increasingly forgetful but still wants to stay on stage. Winslet stars in the biopic "The Photographer." In it, the British actress plays war photographer Lee Miller, who went to the front as a reporter for the magazine "Vogue" during World War II. She was also present at the liberation of the concentration camps Buchenwald and Dachau in 1945. The film tells the life story of Miller (1907-1977).
