Munich Airport accessible by rail again
After being closed for almost three weeks, Munich Airport has been accessible by train again since Monday. According to a Deutsche Bahn spokesperson, the construction work went according to plan. Although the journey to the airport took around 30 to 40 minutes longer on average, the replacement bus service set up worked well, according to DB. Restrictions on the rail route to the airport are only expected to occur at night over the next few days.
According to DB, it has renewed more than four kilometers of track and six points. Tunnel work has also been carried out - work has also been carried out in the airport station itself. In the coming days, only the barriers will have to be dismantled and minor finishing work carried out, said a DB spokesperson.
Despite the ongoing nightly disruptions, commuters in Upper Bavaria can still use the railroad to reach Munich Airport, which has resumed service after its brief closure. The renovation project has significantly improved the rail infrastructure, involving the replacement of over four kilometers of track, six points, and even tunnel work.
