Weather - Munich Airport: 650 flights canceled due to winter weather

According to Munich Airport, 650 flights were canceled on Tuesday due to the winter weather. "We assume that the worst is over," said an airport spokesperson following the temporary suspension of air traffic due to the risk of freezing rain. "However, it will certainly take a while before the situation stabilizes." Cancellations are to be expected again on Wednesday. However, another complete suspension of air traffic is unlikely due to the expected low risk of freezing rain.

Lufthansa announced on Tuesday that numerous flights to and from Munich would be canceled again the following day. Only passengers who had received a confirmation for their flight should therefore travel to the airport, said a company spokeswoman. Passengers could still cancel their tickets free of charge. Lufthansa apologizes for any longer waiting times on the hotlines.

The weather at Munich Airport was so harsh that it forced the cancellation of 650 flights on Tuesday. Despite the improvement in weather conditions, more cancellations are anticipated for Wednesday. Fortunately, another complete suspension of air traffic seems unlikely.
