The Munich-based Laugh & Shooting Society (Lacht und Schießen) is set to appoint a new artistic director. Comedy artist André Hartmann is the chosen one, as the iconic cabaret venue revealed on Monday. The previous managing director, Christian Schultz, had previously announced his resignation. The statement reads, "The Laugh & Shooting has a future – and it doesn't even look bad." Part of this optimism stems from "notable financial resources," which have been accumulated through donations and loans.

Founded by Dieter Hildebrandt, Klaus Havenstein, Hans Jürgen Diedrich, Ursula Herking, and director Sammy Drechsel in 1956, this traditional venue has experienced numerous challenges and personnel changes. However, Hildebrandt's performances always ensured a full house. After his passing in 2013, it became more challenging to maintain a steady crowd in the venue's small hall.

In February 2023, the Laugh & Shooting Society found itself facing bankruptcy due to internal conflicts between the former shareholders, including cabaret artist Bruno Jonas.

To celebrate the 100th birthday of Hanns Dieter Hüsch, an event has been planned for May of the upcoming year at the Silver Hall of the German Theater, a secondary venue for the stage. Jonas and a surprise guest will share the stage with Cardinal Reinhard Marx, the Archbishop of Munich and Freising, for this special occasion.
