Funeral proceedings are scheduled to take place at the Rosengarten Congress Center from 11:00 am onwards for the slain 29-year-old police officer. In attendance will be Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD), Baden-Württemberg's Minister-President Winfried Kretschmann (Greens), and State Interior Minister Thomas Strobl (CDU).
Two weeks ago, a 25-year-old Afghan caused mayhem at Mannheim Market Square, attacking five demonstrators from the anti-Islam movement Pax Europa and two police officers with a knife. The fatally wounded officer ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
