A pair of siblings are alleged to have been producing falsified documents containing language certificates that were used to secure citizenship, along with driver's licenses, according to Stuttgart's prosecutor's office. Their trial began at the Stuttgart District Court this week, and both remained silent.

The 37-year-old and his 31-year-old brother, natives of Kosovo and residents in Aspach, Rems-Murr-District, are thought to have provided these phony qualifications in 561 cases, either at a local in Backnang or through a language school in Ellwangen, or indeed by mail. The clients would pay as much as €2,300 for these fake certificates. Legal authorities exposed 221 of these customers who utilised these fabrications to acquire residency permits or become German citizens.

The brothers are additionally implicated in facilitating illegal immigration, as per the prosecutors' office. An estimated €880,000 in profit was generated from this illegal operation. Also, if their flighty brother, who is currently still at large, is found to have been involved, he will be pursued separately.

Given that 2008, any migrant who wishes to acquire a German passport is obliged to pass a language test. This is to demonstrate sufficient knowledge of the German language.
