In the bustling footpath district of Solingen, an heartfelt vigil was organized, pulling in hundreds of individuals paying tribute to the deceased. Numerous attendees arrived bearing blossoms and candles. Solingen's city leader, Michael Mohr, expressed, "The city isn't the same as it was yesterday." A multitude of soccer scarves, plush toys, letters, and sympathetic messages had been left at the attack site.
"Finding the right words is nearly impossible - actions speak louder," Mohr conveyed. The Protestant figurehead Ilka Werner also emphasized the soothing influence of the community. "It's wonderful that you're here," she commented. A team of counselors, easily identified by their purple vests, were also present on the square. The vigil was set to soft music. Top officials from both federal and state governments had expressed earlier that they would abstain from visiting the crime scene to avoid interfering with the investigation.
Despite the ongoing investigation, other community members chose to visit the site, leaving flowers and notes as a show of support. Amidst the diversity of messages and symbols, a sense of unity was palpable other, reinforcing Solingen's resilience.
