Multiple victims hurt in knife assault in Mannheim; officers fire at attacker

Police in Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg, fired at a knife-wielding assailant on the city's market square, injuring him after several people were hurt in an attack. The suspect was also wounded during the incident, but authorities claimed no danger to the public.

The police didn't disclose much about the incident or potential reasons behind it. All they revealed was that several people got hurt. There's no word yet on how bad their injuries are. Emergency responders and a helicopter for rescue operations are on scene. As a result, the city's rail transportation in the affected region has been halted.
