Perhaps noteworthy, Dortmund police assumed command of the operation and established an investigative squad. The number of injured people was not clearly stated initially. It was said that a rescue helicopter arrived near the crime sites. The Hagen police conveyed, via the platform X, their speculation that "... the origin of this event may emanate from a family context." The law enforcement officials cordoned off the vicinity of the crime locations.
