Multiple cars collided on the A10 in Michendorf (Potsdam-Mittelmark district). In total, five people were injured in the accident between the Michendorf interchange and the Nuthetal autobahn interchange on Saturday afternoon, according to the Michendorf highway police.
One car went off the road and collided with another, as reported. Two more vehicles then braked, while a third car drove into these two vehicles.
A helicopter was reportedly in use to transport injured persons to the hospital. The police estimated the damage at 100,000 Euro. The autobahn was closed for approximately one and a half hours in the direction of Frankfurt (Oder).
Following the collision in Michendorf, authorities in the Potsdam-Mittelmark District are urging drivers to be extra cautious due to the increased risk of such Accidents on the A10. The Automatic incident detection system in Brandenburg reported several near misses in the area around the time of the accident. To further enhance safety, the district is considering implementing additional traffic measures.
