MP Warken to become new CDU General Secretary
CDU Member of Parliament Nina Warken from Tauberbischofsheim is to become the new Secretary General of the Southwest CDU. Party circles confirmed a corresponding report in the "Badische Neueste Nachrichten" and the "Südwest Presse" on Saturday. Manuel Hagel, who is to become the new state chairman, informed the state executive committee on Friday evening that he would propose Warken, a CDU member of the Bundestag, to the party conference in Reutlingen on Saturday. The current Secretary General, Isabell Huber, confirmed in her speech on Saturday that she would be stepping down. Warken (44), a lawyer, is the parliamentary secretary of the Bundestag parliamentary group. Hagel and Warken know each other from their time together in the Junge Union.
The Southwest CDU is set to welcome Nina Warken as its new Secretary General, following her nomination by state chairman Manuel Hagel. Previously serving as a CDU Member of Parliament and the parliamentary secretary of the Bundestag parliamentary group, Warken has a long-standing relationship with Hagel from their time in the Junge Union.
