Received a death threat - MP Diaby shares a letter openly.

A German Bundestag MP, Karamba Diaby, shared a threat on his Instagram. The message read, "I'm coming for you, Karamba!" in response to which he declared, "I won't back down. I'll fight back." Diaby made a post sharing multiple instances of racism and threats he has received. This includes the time his constituency office in Halle was targeted, with a door being set on fire in May 2023.

Diaby addressed the increasing hostility in public discourse, especially towards politicians. "I'm an African politician, and I'm experiencing heightened levels of dislike and animosity. This manifested in my daily experiences on the news, as well as in personal attacks within the German Bundestag. Unfortunately, this trend has also been promoted by right-wing populists like the AfD." The AfD's hateful discourse, he added, has led to actual physical and psychological assault on several people. "This toxicity is tearing our society apart."

In his post to raise awareness, he included several instances of explicit hatred and threats he received.
