New at the movies - Movie releases of the week

US Filmmaker Richard Linklater ("Before Sunrise," "Boyhood") delivers his most humorous film with the black crime romance "A Killer Romance." Inspired by a true story, it's about a professor with a side job as an alleged hitman. For the police, he agrees to act as a decoy to catch the clients. But things get complicated when Gary Johnson falls in love with a woman who wants to get rid of her husband. Glen Powell ("Top Gun: Maverick") and Adria Arjona ("Morbius") are charmingly comical and sexy. The black comedy thrives on tingling chemistry, clever dialogues, and surprising twists.

For his new film, Giorgos Lanthimos has once again collaborated with Hollywood star Emma Stone. However, in "Kinds of Kindness," things are quite different from his successful film "Poor Things" from 2023. The audience can expect an experimental film with a lot to ponder. In three episodes, it tells the story of self-sacrifice and obsession – at work, in marriage, or in religion.
