Crime - Mother of three alleged to have been an IS member: trial
A mother of three children is to stand trial before the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court in Hamburg from Monday (11.00 a.m.) for alleged membership of the Islamic State (IS) and another terrorist organization in Syria. The 31-year-old German-Algerian national is alleged to have been a member of the terrorist organization Junud al-Sham and IS between 2013 and 2017.
The federal prosecutor's office assumes that the accused traveled to Syria with her then husband from May 2013 with their daughter, who was only a few months old at the time. In February 2014, the couple joined the IS. She had received a semi-automatic firearm from her husband and had been trained in its use. Shortly after the birth of their second child, the husband died. At the end of 2015, the accused married a wounded IS fighter and gave birth to another child in September 2017.
On March 1, 2018, the accused returned to Germany and moved to Kiel with her children in September 2022. She has been in custody since June 20, 2023.
