- Mother and daughter go to jail
Two women wanted on arrest warrants were apprehended by police at Fürstenwalde station in Brandenburg. Mother and daughter, aged 66 and 33, still had to serve a six-year prison sentence each, a police spokesperson said. Officers checked their IDs and discovered the outstanding arrest warrants.
The Regional Court of Oldenburg had convicted mother and daughter of bodily harm resulting in death and abuse of a vulnerable person about a year ago, sentencing them to six years and six months in prison. Six months of this sentence has already been served. Neither of them appeared for their sentence.
The women are suspected to have moved into the home of a single, severely ill 65-year-old man several years ago and had him change his will in their favor. Despite being given power of attorney and being responsible for his care, the court found that they did not fulfill this duty. The man later died from an untreated illness.
The apprehension of the women at Fürstenwalde station was related to an unpaid six-year prison sentence due to their conviction for a heinous crime. The crime they were convicted of involved bodily harm resulting in death and abuse of a vulnerable person.
