- Mother and child racistly insulted in subway
A mother, her two children and a family companion were racially insulted and threatened by a man at a subway station in Schöneberg. When the 9-year-old and 6-year-old tried to sit down on a bench next to the man on Monday afternoon at the Kurfürstenstraße subway station, he allegedly insulted and threatened the women and children, as police reported. The group then boarded the incoming subway. The man got into another car.
At Nollendorfplatz, the 32-year-old mother, her children, and the 29-year-old companion got off, as did the man - whether by chance or on purpose was initially unclear. He repeated his remarks, the women called the police. The man fled. The state protection department, which is responsible for politically motivated crimes, is investigating.
The incident at the subway station sparked concerns about heightened levels of intolerance, potentially leading to a rise in such incidents labeled as 'Extremism'. The police are urging the public to report any instances of racial or hate-motivated incidents to help curb this trend.
