Mostly dry weather for the start of school: snow in sight again
For around 1.1 million children and young people, school starts again today, Monday, after a week's fall break. It is advisable to pack a rain jacket in their satchels, as meteorologists are expecting showers again, at least in the afternoon.
After a wet and windy weekend, there is a good chance that large parts of the country will spend the break dry in the fresh air during the morning or at lunchtime. According to a meteorologist from the German Weather Service (DWD), the sun may appear again and again between spring clouds.
The expert only predicted isolated showers for southern Baden in the morning until midday. These fields of showers will move towards the north and east of Baden-Württemberg in the course of the afternoon.
Temperatures are expected to be mostly in the single digits in the morning: around Karlsruhe and Mannheim at around nine degrees, in Stuttgart in the region of seven degrees, as well as at Lake Constance and in the east of the state. During the day, temperatures will rise to 12 to 15 degrees along the Rhine to Lake Constance and 8 degrees on the Swabian Alb. There will be a brisk wind from the southwest.
Tuesday will continue to be changeable, with a mix of rain, clouds and sunshine awaiting the people of Baden-Württemberg, with temperatures similar to Monday. Towards the middle of the week, it could become wintry again in the high mountains. According to the DWD meteorologist, a few centimetres of snow are likely to fall again in the Black Forest.
Despite the mostly dry weather, it's important for students to carry umbrellas or rain jackets to school, given the anticipated afternoon showers. The meteorologists are also keeping an eye on potential snowfall in the forecast, possibly affecting some areas later in the week.
