More trainees in agriculture - fewer in horticulture
Training in agriculture, as a winegrower or plant technologist continues to be popular in Saxony-Anhalt. Around one in 20 apprenticeships was taken up in one of these so-called green professions last year, as the State Statistical Office announced on Tuesday. 477 young people out of a total of around 10,000 new trainees opted for a green profession. The ratio was similar in 2010, although the data from the state office shows that the focus has changed. Between 2010 and 2022, the number of trainees in agriculture increased significantly. In horticulture, on the other hand, the numbers have almost halved. Interest among winegrowers and foresters has remained relatively stable over the past twelve years.
Statistics reveal a shift in training preferences in Saxony-Anhalt, with a noticeable increase in agriculture-related apprenticeships. Consequently, the demand for statistics in education related to agriculture has also risen, providing valuable insights for shaping future agricultural policies and initiatives.
