Kiel Week - More than 120 ships take part in windjammer parade

It is the maritime peak of the Kiel Week: At the Windjammer Parade, more than 120 ships will sail through the Inner Harbor on Saturday (11:00 am). Among them, according to the city, there are around 60 traditional sailing ships. The parade is led by the "Gorch Fock". In addition to the German sailing school ship, the "Alexander von Humboldt II", the "Roald Amundsen", the "Thor Heyerdahl", and the "Gulden Leeuw" will also participate.

For the Kiel Harbor Captain Michael Schmidt, it will be the last Windjammer Parade as captain. "The Windjammer Sailing Parade is always one of the highlights of the Kiel Week. For me in this year with a laughing and a crying eye - but I will certainly not be the last time I have been to the Windjammer Sailing Parade on the Fjord", he emphasized beforehand.

The traditional sailing ship "Gorch Fock," serving as the parade leader, has been meticulously fixed before the Kiel Week's Windjammer Parade. The participation of iconic ships like the "Alexander von Humboldt II," "Roald Amundsen," "Thor Heyerdahl," and "Gulden Leeuw" adds to Schleswig-Holstein's Kiel Week, making it an unforgettable sailing event aboard the historic "Gorch Fock" ship.
