More snowfall in Thuringia: Cross-country ski trails prepared
The conditions for winter hikers and cross-country skiers in the Thuringian Forest have continued to improve. According to the Thuringian Forest Regional Association, it snowed again on Monday night. The snow depth has now reached 22 centimetres. In Oberhof and Masserberg, cross-country skiing is possible on 10 kilometers of groomed trails. There are also 14 prepared routes for winter hikers. However, lifts and toboggan runs are still closed.
The German Weather Service has predicted further heavy snowfall for Monday and Tuesday. In the mountains, another 10 to 20 centimetres of snow are expected to fall in light permafrost. In the lowlands, rain is expected to fall first, followed later by snow as temperatures drop.
During their leisure time, many people are enjoying the improved weather conditions for cross-country skiing and winter hiking in Thuringia. With the additional snowfall forecasted by the German Weather Service, they might have even more opportunities to enjoy their favorite outdoor activities.
