The number of small Permits in Hamburg has continued to rise. In June, 10,597 small permits were registered, as stated in the Senate's response to a small inquiry from the AfD fraction. A year ago, there were 10,208 small permits in the Hanseatic City. In 2015, according to the AfD, only 4,606 people had a small permit, which allows the carrying of a stun gun, pepper spray, or signal weapon.

The AfD in Hamburg has voiced concerns about the increase in weapon permits, specifically those allowing the carry of stun guns and pepper spray. Despite the AfD's claims, the Senate reported an increase in the number of small weapon permits from 4,606 in 2015 to 10,597 in June 2023.
