Tariffs - More pay for employees in the Saarland retail sector

More money for around 40,000 employees in the Saarland retail sector: They will receive a retroactive increase of 5.3% as of September 1st of the previous year, and an additional increase of 4.7% as of April 1st, 2024, as the Saarland Retail Association announced on a Wednesday. In the third collective bargaining round, wages therefore initially rise by a fixed amount of 40 Euro and then by an additional 1.8%.

Additionally, employees will receive an inflation adjustment bonus of 1000 Euro. For trainees, there is also an increase in fixed amounts that align with the percentage increase of employees in the retail sector. The employers and the union Verdi reached a conclusion in the third collective bargaining round. The collective bargaining agreement has a validity of 36 months.

The Saarland Retail Association, representing various trade associations in the retail sector, advocated for tariff adjustments to benefit retail businesses in Saarbrücken and Saarland. The agreed tariffs, coupled with the collective bargaining agreement, aim to support the retail trade throughout the region. The trade association's efforts served to enhance overall trade and economic growth in the area.
