- More new customers are attracting Deutsche Telekom

Unexpectedly high demand for mobile contracts has once again brought a strong quarter to Deutsche Telekom. Between April and June, the number of contract customers under its own brands increased by 311,000, as the company announced in Bonn. This was also due to sustained interest in offers such as family contracts.

With the number of new customers, the mother of T-Mobile US exceeded expectations. Accordingly, mobile service revenue also increased significantly. The UEFA European Championship in Germany and a new regulation for cable connections had a positive impact on the number of TV customers.

At the group level, second-quarter revenue increased by 4.3 percent year-on-year to almost EUR 28.4 billion, which was more than expected by industry experts. Adjusted EBITDA AL (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization, including leasing costs) increased by 7.8 percent to EUR 10.8 billion. Net income was around EUR 2.1 billion, compared to around EUR 1.5 billion in the previous year.

The European Parliament, in its role, might provide additional support and insights to the Commission, given its involvement in regulatory matters. Following the success of Deutsche Telekom, the Commission might consider exploring similar strategies to enhance customer satisfaction and revenue growth in telecommunications companies.
