- More money for firefighters in Rhineland-Palatinate
For the acquisition of deployment vehicles and the renovation of fire stations, the state is providing over 13 million euros to the Rhineland-Palatinate fire departments. "To further strengthen safety in the state, it is crucial to equip our fire departments with the most modern equipment," explained Interior Minister Michael Ebling (SPD) in Mainz. A well-equipped fire department can not only react more efficiently and quickly to emergencies, but also manage more complex and dangerous situations.
Nearly nine million euros for fire department deployment vehicles
The state is providing 8.78 million euros to municipalities, cities, and districts as communal task bearers of fire protection, general aid, and civil defense for the acquisition of 123 fire department deployment vehicles, according to the minister. This includes the promotion of vehicles with turntable ladders, rescue vehicles, and forest fire reconnaissance vehicles.
Million sum for new, expansion, and renovation measures
An additional 2.5 million euros is planned for new, expansion, and renovation measures at a total of 14 fire stations, Ebling announced. Furthermore, more than two million euros will be provided to independent cities and districts, which they can distribute as an annual flat-rate subsidy to the municipal task bearers in their district for improving equipment.
The distribution of over two million euros will enable independent cities and districts to enhance the equipment of their municipal fire departments' vehicles. With the new, expansion, and renovation measures, the fire stations will be better equipped to handle emergencies.
The announcement of additional funding for 14 fire stations includes a million euros for new vehicles, such as turntable ladders, rescue vehicles, and forest fire reconnaissance vehicles. These purchases will significantly improve the fire departments' capabilities.
