Statistics - More custody declarations in Saxony-Anhalt again
For the first time in five years, over 6,611 joint declarations of parental responsibility have been made in Saxony-Anhalt. In contrast to the previous year, there were 6,594 such declarations, representing a decrease of approximately one percent, as the Saxony-Anhalt Statistical Office announced on Tuesday. Additionally, 47 declarations were replaced and transferred to both parents following a family court decision.
When parents are not married at the time of their child's birth, they can register their intention to share parental responsibility at the youth welfare office. However, the number of declarations remains below the 2018 level: 8,117 declarations were made that year, with 128 replaced by family court decisions.
The majority of parental responsibility declarations in the previous year were reportedly made in Magdeburg, the state capital (1,277). This was followed by Halle (Saale), a city not part of a district (901), and Harz district (554).
Furthermore, there were 2,092 guardianships for minors recorded at the youth welfare offices at the end of the previous year. Of these, 1,922 were appointed guardianships, particularly in cases of parental responsibility being revoked. In 170 cases, it concerned unmarried minor mothers or children being put up for adoption.
