The number of reported cases of Covid-19 and influenza has continued to rise in Saxony-Anhalt. The current coronavirus cases mainly affect adults, the State Office for Consumer Protection announced in its weekly report. "In the case of influenza, the proportion of schoolchildren among the cases has increased, which could indicate an imminent start of the flu epidemic." So far, influenza A viruses have predominantly been detected. "There are no indications of particularly severe cases so far," it said.
In the past week, the 47th calendar week, 39 cases of influenza were reported, 13 of them in Magdeburg. The total number of influenza cases recorded since the beginning of September was given as 111.
