Building - More apartments have been built in Thuringia, as per the latest statistics.

Last year, more housing units were constructed in Thuringia compared to the year prior. Approximately 3,500 apartments were completed in 2023, which is 300 more than in 2022, as stated by the State Office for Statistics on Monday. Among these, over 1,500 were multi-family houses, while almost 1,400 were single-family houses.

However, the processing time for a construction project has seen an increase in the previous year. On average, it took 22 months to finish a project in 2023, encompassing prefabricated buildings and those built conventionally. This is a noticeable two-month prolongation from the previous year.

Prefabricated buildings took 18 months to complete, one month longer than in 2022, while conventional buildings took an average of 23 months, followed by a further one-month extension. Interestingly, single-family dwellings could be completed in an average of 21 months regardless of construction method, and multi-family houses took 30 months, with an addition of four months. The office didn't elaborate on the reasons for the steadily longer duration.
