"Monitor team" arrives at the Thuringian AfD party conference

The team from the ARD politics magazine "Monitor" has arrived at the Thuringian AfD state party conference in Pfiffelbach. The Erfurt Regional Court ruled on Friday that a temporary injunction to grant the journalists access to the party conference should be upheld. The AfD had initially denied the journalists access, but the public broadcaster Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR), which is responsible for the magazine, took legal action against this.

AfD state spokesperson Stefan Möller announced further legal action. "This is not the end," he said. "The question of whether or not you have domestic authority is something we would like to have clarified in principle." He had the court ruling shown to him by the "Monitor" journalists in Pfiffelbach.

At the state party conference, journalists had to work in an area separated by a tape and did not have free access to the stage or the delegates' area. An AfD spokesperson said that this was a conclusion from the court decision on the accreditation of the "Monitor" employees. All journalists had to be offered the same working conditions - hence the barrier, said the AfD spokesperson.

The "Monitor" team's arrival at the AfD conference sparked discussions about media access and judgments, as the Erfurt Regional Court upheld a temporary injunction granting them entry. Despite this, AfD state spokesperson Stefan Möller threatened further legal action, expressing his party's desire for clarification on domestic authority matters.
