André Kuper, the parliament's president, expressed the sorrow and shock during the beginning of the session on Monday, "This is a loss that leaves us speechless," he said, expressing his sympathy to the family and friends of the fallen officer.

Friday morning, a 25-year-old man assaulted six individuals, including the officer, at a protest rally organized by a conservative political movement Pax Europa (BPE), in Mannheim's town center. The police officer succumbed to his head injuries on Sunday. The Afghan national attacker repeatedly stabbed the officer.

Kuper underscored the importance of all rescue services, "The bravery and commitment of rescue personnel who safeguard our well-being is appreciated. It's our societal responsibility to support them."

As the police officer risked his life to protect rights, democracy, and freedom of expression, he was praised for his dedication, "This martyrization of our law enforcement personnel mustn't go unnoticed," he added. "Those who attempt to target our rescue services or obstruct aid efforts will face the full force of the law."

Fellow MPs, from various political factions, assembled for a budget session, also emphasized the significance of the police officer's service and civic duty. Finance Minister Marcus Optendrenk recalled moments of courage displayed by the officer, remarking, "This police officer was an expert in defying the freedoms in his line of duty. He laid down his life in his role as a public servant, defending our constitutional values."
