Modify the Personality of Your DualSense Edge Controller on Windows Platforms Now
If you're accustomed to personalizing experiences with Sony's DualSense Edge controller, you're familiar with customization aspects. You can pick and choose each button's function on the controller (excluding L2 and R2), modify the stick sensitivity, and preserve various configurations for swift switch between layouts based on varying scenarios.
These adjustments are managed through your PS5, making sense as it should. Sony allows linking DualSense Edge to your PC, though, you couldn't modify these settings directly from your computer. To alter any button configurations, you had to return to your PlayStation. There was a DualSense app for Windows named "Firmware updater for DualSense wireless controller," which, as the title suggests, was primarily used for updating controller firmware.
Fortunately for DualSense Edge users, this is changing as of today. Sony declared the launch of a new PlayStation Accessories app for Windows on Tuesday, enabling users to, as stated by Sony themselves, "harness the unbridled customizable capacity of the DualSense Edge controller" on their PC.

This app allows you to customize your DualSense Edge for PC gaming, featuring options like personalized button assignments, adjustable stick sensitivity, settings for stick deadzones (the inactive input region), customizable trigger deadzones, and vibration/trigger effect intensity options. Just like on PS5, you can create, modify, and switch between custom controller profiles on your computer. If you favor one setup for a specific game and another for different titles, you have the flexibility to transition at any time.
It's crucial to note that this app only enables customization for a DualSense Edge controller. The standard DualSense controller which comes with each PS5 functions with the app, solely for updating the controller's firmware. DualSense Edge serves as Sony's "pro" controller, priced at $199.99. (For reference, a DualSense controller costs $69.99.)
PlayStation Accessories arrives with version 2.0.0.13. To utilize it, you need to be running Windows 10 or Windows 11, with at least 250MB of free storage space. Your PC must have a minimum display resolution of 1280 by 800. For further instructions on connecting your controller to your PC and configuring controller profiles, refer to Sony's guide here.
With the launch of the new PlayStation Accessories app for Windows, DualSense Edge users can now customize their controller for PC gaming, providing options like personalized button assignments, adjustable stick sensitivity, and vibration/trigger effect intensity. This expansion in customization possibilities brings DualSense Edge gaming on PC more in line with its entertainment value on PS5.
