Communication - Mobile network in Fuerstewalde failed

The mobile network in and around Fürstenwalde (Landkreis Oder-Spree) and in the vicinity of the A12 motorway has failed. Affected are internet access and telephone usage.

Unknown individuals tampered with a distribution cabinet in the Lindenstraße on Sunday evening, as the Police reported. The technology inside was damaged by rain. The damage is currently estimated at around 15,000 Euros. Further investigations were initiated by the Police.

The local police in Fürstenwalde are actively looking into the incident of suspected vandalism, as mobile communications have been disrupted due to the damage. The failure affects both the mobile network and internet reception in the area. Residents and travelers along the A12 motorway have reported significant communication issues. The police have set up a temporary communication center at the reception desk to help residents and visitors stay informed. In light of the current technological limitations and the increased risk of criminality, authorities are urging residents to be vigilant and use alternative means of mobile communication, such as satellite phones or landlines. Furthermore, the police are considering collaborating with telecommunication companies to strengthen the mobile network infrastructure and improve reception in the affected area.
