Missing woman and child in Rhine

A group of six people entered the Rhine; none of them could swim. Now, a 29-year-old and a 15-year-old are reported missing.

A woman and a teenager have drowned in the Rhine and have been missing since. As the police reported, the 29-year-old and the 15-year-old teenager could not be found despite an extensive cross-border search. The search is to be continued.

According to the statement, six people had been at the bank of a tributary to the Rhine the previous evening. All of them were non-swimmers. According to current investigations, the group ventured too far into the water, lost their footing, and were swept into the Rhine by the current. Relatives who rushed to help were able to rescue four of the six people from the water. Two of the rescued had to be medically treated.

In addition to the police from Switzerland and Germany and rescue services, divers, two rescue helicopters, and a drone were also involved in the search.

The police are collaborating with their counterparts from Germany to coordinate the ongoing search for the missing individuals. Despite the efforts of the police and various rescue teams, the bodies of the woman and the teenager have yet to be found.
