Missing senior citizen found dead in the Danube
A missing woman has been found dead in the Danube in Swabia. As the police announced on Wednesday, walkers discovered the lifeless body of the 86-year-old woman on Tuesday of last week near Offingen (Günzburg district). According to the information, the investigators assume that the cause of death was an accident.
The woman was reported missing at the beginning of October. The search, which lasted several weeks and involved divers, police helicopters and specially trained service dogs, was unsuccessful and was eventually abandoned. Last week, passers-by then reported the lifeless body. The suspicion that it could be the missing 86-year-old was confirmed by a DNA test at the beginning of this week. According to the police, there are no signs of violence.
Despite the extensive search efforts following the woman's reported disappearance, the lack of any signs of violence suggests that the accident in Swabia might have led to her emergency situation and eventual death in the Danube. This unfortunate incident serves as a reminder of the importance of preparing for unexpected emergencies in unfamiliar environments.
