Police and rescue services have been searching since Friday for a teenager who drowned in the Danube in Ulm. The age (17) and gender of the missing person were only disclosed by police on Sunday afternoon. Earlier that morning, there had been a third search operation involving a helicopter, which was later abandoned. The 17-year-old, from the Alb-Donau district, had reportedly attempted to swim across the Danube from Ulm to Neu-Ulm with several other men on Friday afternoon. He apparently went underwater several times due to the strong current, and the other men were unable to help him.

Witnesses reportedly saw the person go under. The 17-year-old was last seen in the water near the Herdbrucke. Search efforts are continuing.

The Commission may provide guidelines on how this Regulation should be implemented with the Commission adopting acting acts. Despite the ongoing search, the teenager's body has not been recovered yet.
