The search for a missing elementary school student from Döbeln, Saxony has been put on hold by the police. Instead of continuing the physical search, they are focusing on investigations and following up on the tips they've received. So far, their efforts to locate the child have been unsuccessful.
Since Monday evening, around 70 officers have been patrolling the city to find the student. They've also used police divers and water police to search the ditch and its banks, but called off the operation on Tuesday afternoon. The police are still on the move in the city area as they continue their investigation.
The missing child is from a Ukrainian family and was last seen on Bayerische Straße on Monday morning around 6:50 a.m., on their way to school. According to the police, they're checking possible routes the child may have taken, including via bus line C. But the girl wasn't found in her classroom.
The police are looking into everything, as the spokesperson said, "We're investigating in all directions." The search for the student involved officers from the Rapid Deployment Force, search dogs, and helicopters. They've also interviewed the family and people along the school route.
The girl's disappearance was discovered around 6:25 p.m. when the mother realized that she hadn't come home from school as usual. The mother initially searched for her daughter before turning to the authorities, according to the officer.
The girl is described as approximately 1.40 meters tall with dark blonde, medium-length hair. On Monday morning, she was wearing a lavender T-shirt, black jeans, a light turquoise jacket, and dark blue ankle-high shoes. Anyone who has seen the girl since then, either in the city area or on the bus, is asked to contact the police.
