- Missing for several days, a German hiker encounters difficulty in Zillertal.
A dude from Frankfurt has been absent for numerous days within the expansive Zillertal valley in Austria. The local police helicopter failed to pinpoint the 60-year-old during a recent aerial search, according to a police spokesperson, who lamented, "Unfortunately, the flight didn't yield any results."
The guy embarked on his journey from Friesenberghaus on a Thursday afternoon, aiming for a two-hour summit climb of the 3,200-meter-tall Hohe Riffler. When he failed to return to the hut in the evening, the hut caretaker raised the alarm. An extensive search operation followed, involving mountain rescue teams, alpine police, and canine units. The police also announced plans for upcoming aerial searches.
Despite the search efforts, the hut caretaker and the local mountain rescue team were unable to locate the missing hiker in the vast expanse of the Zillertal valley. Undeterred, the police have scheduled further aerial searches in the coming days to cover the area surrounding the Hohe Riffler.
