Missing businessman from Hüllhorst: Man arrested on suspicion of murder

According to the information provided, the 37-year-old became the focus of the investigation at an early stage. Suspicions had arisen from a tenancy, the officials explained. The 37-year-old had taken over the 62-year-old's company property in Hüllhorst, East Westphalia, as a new tenant shortly before he disappeared.

According to the officers, the 37-year-old from Bielefeld was arrested on Tuesday. Further investigations are underway. Following a search, traces are currently being evaluated, the statement continued. It was not yet known whether the traces would lead to a possible crime scene.

The entrepreneur from Hüllhorst suddenly disappeared on October 18. His cell phone was located four days later in Melle, Lower Saxony. The missing man's car was then found there near a sports field, where a suitcase and his jacket were said to have been in the locked car.

However, according to the police, the car disappeared the following day. A final search revealed that the cell phone had been disconnected from the mobile network on October 23 in the county of Grafschaft Bentheim in Lower Saxony near the Dutch border.
