- Miscalculated Pizza Charge: Potential Theft of Over 39,000 Euros?
A worker at a pizzeria in Berlin reportedly swindled the cash register system numerous times, amassing approximately 39,000 euros. The prosecutor's office has indicted the 24-year-old on theft charges in relation to 1,255 incidents, a spokesperson confirmed.
As per the investigation, the delivery service employee at the pizza shop located in Alt-Glienicke allegedly discounted the bill in the cash register system for a grand total of 1,255 orders placed between December 2021 and May 2023. Despite this, the customers had to pay the full price. It is alleged that he pocketed the difference each time, with amounts ranging from 10.04 to 128.94 euros. Once a month, an average collection of over 2,200 euros was made, according to the allegations.
However, the branch manager grew suspicious at a later stage. The prosecutor's office revealed that he then carried out an investigation, scrutinized the work schedules, and ultimately submitted a report.
The swindled money from the fraudulent activities is a significant amount of approximately 39,000 euros, categorized as a serious case of crime. The employee's actions of discounting bills and pocketing the difference amount to multiple counts of theft associated with each of the 1,255 altered orders.
