Miroslav Klose, the prolific German striker with numerous records under his belt, is to take up the coaching reigns at 2. Bundesliga side 1. FC Nuremberg. Having worked as a coach at SCR Altach in Austria, Klose is now set to return to the country of his successes, Germany.
"The club's values have grabbed my attention instantly. I'm extremely thrilled," said the 46-year-old. Klose has signed a two-year contract with the team.
"Miroslav is a very meticulous and detail-oriented coach who amassed extensive experience and knowledge throughout his illustrious playing career, which he also used to form a clear vision of how to excel in football and what's necessary both on the field and in the locker room," noted the new sporting director Joti Chatzialexiou. "We've got many plans lined up." Klose's appointment is forecasted to aid in transfers.
Background in Bayern and Austria
Klose will be replacing Cristian Fiél. The experienced international player Klose gained coaching expertise with FC Bayern Munich's U17 squad and as a co-trainer for the senior team, in addition to working with the DFB. Chatzialexiou had publicly shared during his introduction a week earlier that Fiél would be leaving the club prematurely. He's hunting for a fresh challenge at Hertha BSC.
"Teams like St. Pauli, Leverkusen, and Stuttgart, all performing well with a similar playing style - that's the way forward," mentioned Chatzialexiou a week ago. Chatzialexiou envisions "a harmonious relationship with two or three key players." This now falls under Klose's responsibility.
