After the fatal accident at Hamburg's Jungfernstieg, Hochbahn employees want to remember their deceased colleague with a moment of silence. According to the transportation company, all buses and U-Bahns that are at a halt during this time on Thursday at 11:00 AM will remain still for a minute. Passengers should be informed via announcements.

On Tuesday morning, an 18-year-old drove a car with approximately 600 PS over a pedestrian walkway at Jungfernstieg and crashed into a transporter in front of a Sparkassenfiliale. Due to the impact, the transporter moved forward and hit a pedestrian. The 39-year-old U-Bahn driver and family man succumbed to his severe injuries in the hospital shortly thereafter.
