In light of a recent decision made by the Justice Ministers' Conference, prosecutors can now pursue charges for racist, Anti-Semitic, or degrading insults even without complaints from the victims. Christian Heinz, the Minister for Justice in Hesse, recently spoke on this matter, stating that his department has been instructed to look into this issue further. He voiced his support for shielding athletes and other individuals from hate and abuse during this busy year filled with major sporting events like the European Championships in Germany and the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris. "We have a lot of people cheering on our athletes," Heinz explained. "However, there are also those who seek to drown them in hate and abuse." He is proud of the stance the conference has taken on this matter, emphasizing that it doesn't just apply to athletes but to everyone.
