The measures agreed by the traffic light coalition are intended to boost the economy. Brandenburg's Economics Minister Steinbach is also counting on this - but he has one demand.

Growth package - Minister urges rapid implementation of growth package

Brandenburg's Economic Minister Jörg Steinbach (SPD) sees the Growth Package as a positive push for businesses and citizens, but urges the Federal Government for swift implementation. "These are sensible proposals that will directly benefit the population," Steinbach told the German Press Agency. "With the Growth Package, the Federal Government is reacting in 49 specific points to frequently expressed criticism. So, the value of labor will be encouraged, skilled labor immigration will be incentivized, and the principle of 'promote and perform' will be emphasized more strongly."

Minister: Legal adjustments still required

The Economic Minister urged the Federal Government to swiftly set the switches for these measures. "However, many instruments still require legal adjustments," Steinbach said. "The order is for the Federal Government to bring the Growth Package, after the summer break, focused on the parliamentary way, so that it – especially for the small and medium-sized economy – can still be of benefit this year."

In Germany, only small growth is expected this year. Therefore, comprehensive relief measures are planned to boost the economy. The coalition summit of the Traffic Light Coalition agreed on a Growth Package. It should lead to an additional growth of more than half a percentage point in the next year - making an additional 26 billion Euros of economic output possible.

So, accelerated depreciation of investments and improved research grants are planned. The Brandenburg economy, which has grown faster than the federal average so far, also feels the cooling.

With the proposed financing instruments, the Economic Minister believes necessary investments in the economy will be encouraged. "Furthermore, the issue of bureaucracy reduction is being addressed more specifically," Steinbach added.
