Minister President Weil receives Grand Cross of Merit
Lower Saxony's head of government Stephan Weil will be honored with an Order of Merit by Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. As the State Chancellery in Hanover announced on Friday, the SPD politician will receive the Grand Cross of Merit with Star and Shoulder Ribbon of the Order of Merit. Steinmeier will award the order for services to democracy over many years in office - in addition to Weil, also to the Minister Presidents of Baden-Württemberg, Brandenburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia as well as to Bavaria's former Minister President Horst Seehofer. The award ceremony will take place on November 24 in Berlin.
The honor of receiving the Grand Cross of Merit is a testament to Stephan Weil's long-standing service to democracy as the Minister President of Lower Saxony. This prestigious award, presented by Federal President Steinmeier, also recognizes the contributions of several other government leaders in various German states.
