Schleswig-Holstein's Interior Minister Sabine Sütterlin-Waack (CDU) thanked the firefighters in the state for their efforts on "112 Day" on Friday. December 1, 2023 is all about the Schleswig-Holstein fire departments and the 150th anniversary of the state fire brigade association. "This day is also an opportunity for me to once again say a big thank you to all the volunteers who work for us, for our society, so that we can live safely and without worries," said the Minister in a video message. "Thank you for your commitment and always come back safely!"

According to the ministry, many of the fire departments in Schleswig-Holstein are opening their doors on "112 Day", providing information about their work and recruiting members and new recruits. In addition to the local events, the state fire service association had called on all firefighters to wear uniforms on Friday - for example on the way to work or when shopping.
