Lower Saxony's Interior Minister Daniela Behrens will meet with the four professional football clubs in the region on Wednesday. The discussions with Bundesliga team VfL Wolfsburg, 2nd division teams Hannover 96 and Eintracht Braunschweig, and 3rd division team VfL Osnabrück will focus on stadium security for the upcoming season.

In recent years, matches between Hannover 96 and Eintracht Braunschweig have often been marred by violent incidents and extensive use of pyrotechnics. On Wednesday, the "security concepts for Lower Saxony's stadiums" will be discussed, the Interior Ministry announced.

Minister Behrens has previously suggested banning away fans from these matches. "Banning away fans is my preferred option when there are no other tools available," she told the German Press Agency (dpa).

The discussion with Hannover 96 during the meeting with Minister Behrens and the football clubs will likely touch on the history of violent incidents at their matches. Implementing stricter safety measures, particularly regarding pyrotechnics, could be a key point in the "security concepts for Lower Saxony's stadiums."
