Minister of Justice plans to bundle asylum procedures in Giessen

To speed up asylum procedures in Hesse, new cases concerning safe countries of origin are to be bundled at the administrative court in Giessen in future. This is the result of a working group of administrative judges led by Minister of Justice Roman Poseck (CDU). "Speed is particularly important in these proceedings, as the chances of success of the asylum application are unfavorable, while the prospects of repatriation are favorable," Poseck announced in Wiesbaden on Thursday. The Giessen Administrative Court is to be given additional staff to deal with the additional tasks.

Poseck announced that he would now introduce the results of the working group into the political consultations in Hesse. "From my point of view, we should implement this quickly." The Minister explained that the Giessen Administrative Court had so far proven to be very efficient in asylum court proceedings. According to the working group's recommendations, proceedings involving countries with a low volume of cases should also be bundled there. In this way, costly familiarization with country-specific features at other court locations could be avoided.

"I am firmly convinced that these measures will result in a significant acceleration," explained Poseck. "Even if the processing times at most administrative courts in Hesse are already decreasing today, we want to set further accents for more speed in new incoming proceedings." Hesse has five administrative courts in Kassel, Giessen, Frankfurt, Wiesbaden and Darmstadt. The Administrative Court is based in Kassel. Proceedings that are already pending are to remain unaffected by the planned concentration.

The bundling of new asylum cases from safe countries of origin at the Giessen Administrative Court aims to promote justice by improving the efficiency of asylum procedures. With the introduction of faster processes, there's hope for more equitable migration outcomes in Hesse.
